Creating and Implementing Do-Type Learning Activities

An assessment for needs take place before the activity is used, its purpose is to make decisions in regards of the priory if the program.

 What do you know?

I know that as a teacher it is very important to have computer access for my students so taking them to the computer lab at least 3 times a week would deem beneficial for my class. Once in the computer I should be able to monitor my students as well as help them create their blogs as well, have all the necessary material for the given activity.

What do you want to know?

We use the needs assessment we want  teach the students critical thinking skills, as well as help them improve their writing skills the goals  is to  teach  students how important collaboration is when using blogs as a writing tool.

What are you trying to measure, determine, or define?

I would like to know if my students will interact well with their peers well when using blogs as a web tool. I want to teach my students new things for example things  like diversity  things about different culture and their values and beliefs using this assessment  will help them to develop strength critical thinking skills.

How will you collect and record information?

Students are monitored and offered assistance inside the computer lab to determine how well they will do on blogs.

How will you report the information you collect?

Students are graded on the given activity that was assigned for their blog and also on a two page typed assignment

Are all interested groups included in planning and conducting the needs assessment?
Teachers will help as assist with the necessary needs of the assessment, the students will then partake in  the collaboration  of the blog  and with their peers, they will be a assigned a  two page typed assignment what they have learn from blogging.

Cultures Around the would

The do typed that I chose pertains to cultures around the world the needs assessment would be for a seventh or eighth grade class in regards to social studies the classroom would have an even number of students (usually about sixteen students) in the classroom we would talk about blogging and then introduced to it inside the computer lab they will be shown how to create a blog and asked to create one and then the connect it with their fellow classmates blog this helps with collaboration.

To get the as assessment off the ground students will be given a choice of six different cultures to choose from then they will be asked to pick their choice out of the given research and assume the role of their culture they have chosen, each student will post pictures and information regarding the beliefs and values of that particular culture, students are then required to post comments on how they feel about the culture as well as what they have learned. They will outline the steps taken for information they have learned and found and to end the work and asked to type a two page assignment.
